Senior Platform/DevOps Engineer (Cross-Cloud & Service Automation)

This role is dedicated to work for one of our main customers on a daily basis within their engineering team alongside other Astrafy engineers. You will help them build an internal developers portal, collaborate with other engineers, architects, and stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and automated environments for their organization. You will also have the responsibility to translate their business needs into clear and concise technical solutions, as well as having a practical involvement into the solution implementation.
The company is a multinational and successful organization based in Switzerland, with businesses around the world, mainly Europe, US and China. Engineers are spread across the globe with the majority of them located in Switzerland, Portugal and China.
As part of one of the Cloud & DevOps teams, you will play a pivotal role in successfully deploying applications and creating services for their organizations. You will interact with different stakeholders within the organization and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of applications using DevOps best practices and Cloud technologies. You will act as a cross-cloud specialist (GCP/AWS) to automate the deployment of data-centric applications such as DBT, Airbyte, and Airflow. Your responsibilities will include:
Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, discover opportunities, map vision & business requirements, and translate them into effective cloud-based solutions and services.
Identify opportunities for automation and drive continuous improvement in the deployment process.
Design and implement automation frameworks and deployment pipelines using cutting-edge tools and technologies.
Continuously evaluate and enhance deployment practices to drive efficiency and reliability.
Be autonomous and proactive; understand functional and technical requirements, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
Promote an automate everything approach and apply DevOps best practices to ensure consistent and transparent execution.
Contribute to the development and creation of automated services.
Keeping up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to deployment services and DevOps.
As part of your mission, you will be required to travel from time to time (once or twice per quarter) to work on-site with the client in Switzerland (Geneva), but you will have freedom to organize it when it suits you best.
Additionally, Astrafy values knowledge sharing and thought leadership. You will be encouraged to contribute by writing articles that enhance Astrafy’s impact and foster collaboration across the industry.
5+ years of demonstrated success in acting as a Cloud & DevOps expert.
Extensive hands-on experience with GCP and AWS
A solution-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical teams.
High proficiency in Python is mandatory. Experience with AWS SQS and Lambda for service orchestration is highly valued
Experience deploying and managing data-centric applications such as DBT, Airbyte, and Airflow.
Proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitOps practices (ArgoCD).
Experience in platform security, including IAM, network security, and compliance.
Fluency in English; knowledge of French or Spanish is a great advantage

Interview process
Our interview process is sequential, and should last between 1 to 3 weeks. Each stage leads to either

Interview process details:
HR screen call - Confirming expectations from each side ~ 45 minutes
Case study - Openly discuss and solve a case study similar to the job expectation ~ 1 hour
Meet the client ~ 30-60 minutes
If the 2nd stage is conclusive, we will arrange a meeting with the client, as they will have the final word for this position given it is tailored for their needs. This 3rd stage can only happen if you successfully passed the 2 previous rounds and the client accepts your profile, as we want to ensure we only provide them with your profile if we believe you are qualified for the job and that it matches your expectations as well.
